Our initial investment strategy focused on oceanfront luxury hotels and development land in resort destinations in South Florida, the Caribbean and Mexico. The investment strategy has now expanded to include the Latin American region as well as business hotel assets, especially those located both within both major urban centers and secondary market cities, with favorable demographic and economic characteristics.
This evolution in strategy was also accompanied by a cultivation and strengthening of our executive team and expansion of offices. Currently, the firm has a multidisciplinary team specialized in both the targeted asset class in its different industry segments, and the regions in which it invests.
Bricapital concentrated its efforts in the creation and implementation of institutional investment funds targeting Latin America. We identified Latin America as a key investment target in our strategy, as it would capitalize on our competitive advantages, including our ability to operate effectively through our local operations, our valuable network of strategic partners, and our intrinsic knowledge of the region.
We recognized at a very early stage the region’s potential as an investment destination in the short, medium and long term; especially the countries that make up the Pacific corridor which already had integration plans. This integration is manifested in the creation of the Pacific Alliance, which promotes free trade as a driver for growth among its members (Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru) through a number of innovative initiatives, including: facilitating the integration of securities market through the MILA (Latin American Integrated Market), which will be the largest stock exchange in the region with the entry of Mexico.
We currently have operations in Colombia and Mexico, and plan to enter Peru by 2015.
